What should I expect?
Our facility at Maple Leaf Business Park has step free access and ample on-street parking in Columbus Avenue.
For the mobile service, your consultation will take place in the privacy and comfort of your own home. All you need to do is provide enough clear space for the treatment couch and working space. If you are a wheelchair user or are unable to transfer to a treatment couch, no problem we can make adjustments that work for you.
We will arrive with everything needed for the consultation and treatment.
First consultation
The first consultation is the most important to both the therapist and yourself. We will discuss with you your musculoskeletal problem, other medical conditions you may have, medications you are taking, the type of work you do and how active you are able to be day to day.
You will also be able to discuss any diagnostic test results or medical reports arranged by your GP or Consultant. Please have these available at your consultation. We work only within our scope of practice and ask that you have approval from your GP/Consultant to proceed with treatment if this is required.
Examination
The examination will vary from person to person depending on symptoms, complexity of your case and location of injury. We will undertake a range of assessments to analyse posture, movement patterns, musculoskeletal function and range of motion at joints. Your therapist may palpate the area around your injury and assess your comfortable range of motion.
After the examination your therapist will discuss findings with you and work with you to agree the most appropriate treatment plan for you.
Treatment
Treatment will comprise a number of soft tissue techniques, fascial release, manipulation, neuromuscular and massage techniques. We may also undertake joint mobilisation or Kinesio Taping® where appropriate (Although Kinesio Tape is latex free and hypoallergenic a 24 hour skin patch test is advised in advance of clinical application).
We will discuss what is proposed regarding your treatment so that you can understand what is happening and why.
Where appropriate, we will design a therapeutic exercise programme specifically for you and your lifestyle (we do not charge extra for post treatment advice). We understand you have busy lives and will work with you to find ‘off treatment’ self-healing strategies that you can maintain. This is one of the most important aspects of your recovery and long-term health.
What should I wear?
For therapy, loose fitting and comfortable clothing is best to maintain your modesty and enable your therapist to assess/treat you. For leg problems loose fitting shorts are best. For upper body, neck, shoulders and arms a loose-fitting vest and for lower back and hip area an elasticated waistband is helpful. The suggested clothing will enable your therapist to assess/treat you whilst maintaining your comfort.
We want to protect your modesty at all times and clean towels will be provided as an additional layer of privacy for your comfort. Chaperones are also welcome to be present throughout your treatment should you wish.
For Pilates, Fitness and Running Analysis sessions it is advisable to wear fitness clothing with a good amount of stretch and something warm to wear afterwards - trainers are essential. It is also advised to bring a clean towel and filled drink bottle with you.
Can I have someone with me (Chaperone)?
Absolutely! Chaperones are more than welcome to be present throughout, it is important that you feel comfortable during your treatment. For under 18’s needing treatment/fitness tuition, a chaperone must be present throughout the appointment and must be the parent/legal guardian. Please allow extra time for completion of consent forms. We also ask that under 18's consent to their parent/legal guardian being the point of contact for them (see our privacy statement below for additional information).
Payment and Cancellation
Payment must be made in full upon completion of each treatment, we accept cash or bank transfer.
We understand that sometimes you may have to cancel. We ask that you give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel so that we can offer the appointment to another client. There will be a cancellation charge of the full rate for the appointment for all cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment.
